The butterfly and the pig

Welcome to The Butterfly and the Pig, a gem nestled in the heart of Glasgow at 153 Bath St. This charming restaurant effortlessly weaves together delightful cuisine, a warm atmosphere, and engaging decor, all while celebrating the unique character of Scottish hospitality.

As soon as you step through the doors, you're greeted by an ambiance that feels both nostalgic and contemporary—a delightful blend reminiscent of a cozy pub, yet with a modern twist. The decor features real china and wood accents, creating an inviting space where you can unwind and enjoy a meal.

The menu at The Butterfly and the Pig is a playful exploration of traditional and modern culinary delights. Here are some standout dishes that caught my attention:

  • Haggis Fritters with Peppercorn Sauce - A playful nod to Scottish heritage and comfort food, these fritters come beautifully crisped and are paired perfectly with a side salad. A true conversation starter at just £7.65.
  • Butterfly and Piglet Burger - This hearty burger is made with kitchen-crafted mayonnaise, complemented by fresh accompaniments and your choice of snacks for £13.85. It makes an irresistible option for those looking for an indulgent treat.
  • Greedy Alec Steak - For meat lovers, the 8oz bavette steak pan-roasted in rosemary butter, served with balsamic tomatoes, tenderstem broccoli, and fries for £18, speaks for itself. Indulgent yet skillfully prepared, it’s comfort food elevated to new heights.

The Butterfly and the Pig is not just about the food; it’s also a place where service shines. Patrons rave about the friendly and attentive staff, making every visit feel personal and cherished. Whether you’re in for a casual meal or a special occasion, you can expect a level of care that makes you feel right at home.

During my visit, the atmosphere was alive with laughter and the strums of live music, adding a vibrant backdrop to the dining experience. It’s obvious why many have fallen in love with this restaurant. From gluten-free options that cater to dietary needs to classic dishes that evoke nostalgia, there truly is something for everyone.

To top it all off, guests have also enjoyed delightful desserts, with recommendations for their raspberry and pistachio cake that brings a touch of sweetness and elegance to any meal. The well-curated selection of local beers further enhances the dining experience, ensuring that your meal is complemented just right.

In summary, The Butterfly and the Pig is more than just a restaurant—it’s an experience, a culinary adventure that beckons you to return. With its delightful ambiance, engaging service, and a menu that cleverly plays with flavors and tradition, it's a must-visit for anyone in Glasgow. I wholeheartedly agree with customers who call it a hidden gem—this cozy nook promises not just a meal, but a memorable outing. Don’t miss out on the charm; come visit soon!

This place is outstanding. I just looked for somewhere that offered full breakfast but stepping inside was something else. A bit like stepping back in time with a modern twist. The House and the decor are great. So cool. So vintage. Real china, lots of wood, impressive lighting. And then the food was great. A big pot of breakfast tea too (not one of these miserly ones you tend to get). And they had a raspberry and pistachio gluten free cake, so I had to squeeze a slice of that in as well. The girls and boys were welcoming, friendly, helpful and real joy. Feels like a nice place to work. My wife just asked if we were going back for breakfast tomorrow. “Hell yes” I said!
